John Randall "Ran" Wellman

John Randall "Ran" Wellman, aged 81, peacefully passed away on May 26, 2025, in Gastonia, North Carolina. Born on September 6, 1943, in Gaston County. Ran was a cherished figure in his community, remembered for his warm heart and infectious spirit.

Ran was devoted to his family, especially his late wife Dot, his daughters, and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren. He had a unique gift for bringing laughter into the lives of those around him, often sharing a joke or a funny story that brightened the day. Beyond his role as a loving father and grandfather, Ran had a zest for life that was particularly evident in his younger years when he enjoyed playing sports and embracing the joys of competition. He always enjoyed watching various sporting events.

Ran dedicated many years of his life by working at Wix Corporation, Gastonia on the production line, where his strong work ethic and determination shone through. He took pride in keeping busy and being productive, often finding fulfillment in his daily tasks, whether at work or at home.

Loved ones are invited to celebrate Ran's life during a visitation at Greene Funeral Service West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 am, also at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel officiated by Pastor Chris Lee. Ran's final resting place will be at Gaston Memorial Park beside his beloved wife.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Charlotte Region 1613 East Morehead Street Charlotte, NC 28207.

Ran is survived by his daughters, Pam Spencer (Scott), Misty Law (Brian); brothers, Mike Wellman, Duke Wellman (Joni); ; grandchildren, Brooke Spence (Tommy), Kaci Barrett (Mitchell), Bryson Law, Ashton Law; great- grandchildren, Kyser, Jessie, Delilah, Evelyn, Kamdyn, Tate.

Ran was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Wellman, his parents, Burl and Gareen Wellman; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wellman.

As we honor Ran's legacy, we gather to share stories and memories that reflect the joy he spread in his lifetime. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Morningside of Gastonia and VIA Health Partners Hospice for the amazing care of their dad this past year.
