John "Jp" Patrick Bridges, Sr.

July 31, 1934 — February 7, 2021

John "JP" Patrick Bridges, Sr., 86, of Bessemer City, NC passed away February 7, 2021 at his home.

He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC where he was a former deacon and choir director.  He loved gardening and fishing.

JP was born July 31, 1934 in Gaston County, NC to the late Daniel Forbes and Macie Mae Scism Bridges.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beatrice Warlick and Patsy Carver; and brothers, Paul and Allen Bridges.

JP is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Bridges; a son, John Patrick "Pat" Bridges, II; two daughters, Beverly Kay Herring, and Jessica Bridges Calder and husband Stephen; grandchildren, Mandi Marie Bridges, Travis Russell Bridges, Amber Nichole Darby, Mickey Christopher Herring, Dawson James Calder, Thomas Jay Calder, and Gracie Olivia Calder; and a bunch of fur babies.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Greg Neely, will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, 618 Chestnut Ridge Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, NC
