Mint Hill, NC John Overcash, age 80, formerly of Gastonia, passed away November 10, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC. He was born March 4, 1932 in Charlotte, NC, son of the late Henderson and Nora Huffman Overcash. Mr. Overcash was a US Air Force, Korean War Veteran. He was retired from Winn Dixie as a truck driver with over 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Jerry Millwood. The family will receive friends 7-9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. The interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. He is survived by: his former wife and caregiver, Florence Miller of Mint Hill; children and their spouses, Ed and Maria Overcash of Ft. Mill, SC, Wanda and Jack Reeder of Charlotte, Dean Overcash of Mint Hill, Gary and Vickie Brown of York, SC; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: wife, Patsy Brown Overcash; daughters, Melinda Brown, Deborah Nichols; brother, Wayne Overcash; sisters, Alice Ellis, Pauline Courtney.
