John Charles Mcleymore Sr.

John Charles McLeymore Sr., 71, of Gastonia, passed away April 18, 2024, at Peak Resources in Gastonia.

He was born June 28, 1952, in Cherokee County, NC, son of the late William Glenn McLeymore and Julia Roselle Carringer McLeymore.

He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.

John loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was especially proud of his large tomatoes.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR and pulling for his favorite driver.

He was a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 22, 2024, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Ronnie Pressley and Rev. Greg Neely.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the funeral home.

The burial will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.

John is survived by his daughters, Christina Wilson and husband Shane, Melissa Stanley; brothers, Samuel McLeymore and wife Peggy, Dewey McLeymore, Edward McLeymore; sisters, Wanda Clark, Shirley Arrowood and husband Roy; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty McLeymore; son, John McLeymore Jr.; brothers, Harry and Furman McLeymore.
