John "J.W." Howell

John "J.W." Howell, 90, of Gastonia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaston County, born on May 20, 1931, J.W. was the son of the late, Grier and Lizzie Cash Howell.

In addition to his parent, J.W. was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Howell Sellers; brothers, Robert, Bill "Willie" and Dewey Howell; and grandson, Christopher "Ryan" Jordan.

Left to cherish J.W.'s memories are his wife, Betty Grigg Howell; Children, Vickie Howell Jordan and Jerry Dale Howell, Sr.; brother, Hubert Howell; and grandchildren, Nathan Howell Jordan, and Jerry Dale Howell, Jr.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor D.R. "Danny" Shortridge and Rev. Sam Barnette, will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Dallas Church of God – 311 S College St, Dallas, NC 28034.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S York Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Interment to follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dallas Church of God - 311 S College St, Dallas, NC 28034 or to the Alzheimer's Association – Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28215.
