It is our sad duty to report that John Leroy Hill, 70, of Clover, SC, passed away June 30, 2024, at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC.
He was born December 7, 1953 in Cowpens, SC to the late Leroy Denell Hill and Sarah Cook Hill.
Mr. Hill was an US Army veteran for 22 years and retired from the US Postal Service after 20 yrs. of service. He was the Commander of VFW Post 6732 for almost 17 years, until his death declined and was the Commander of American Legion Post 38 until he was asked to fill that position several years ago. John was the spark plug that kept both posts going. In fact, John was active behind the scenes with his words of wisdom, as late as early last week.
John is survived by his loving wife for over 44 years, Phyllis Hill; Son, Brian and spouse Cindy; Daughter, Michelle and spouse Andy; Son, Mike and spouse Jessica; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Brother, Billy and spouse Elaine; Brother, Earl and spouse Judy; Sister, Lois "Sissy" and spouse Benny.
A graveside service will be held 10am, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
Memorials can be made to the VFW of Clover or the American Legion Post 38, Rock Hill.
