John Carter

John Spencer Carter,69, of Kings Mountain, passed away on May 5, 2017, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1948, in Cleveland County, son of the late Leman and Virgie Carroll Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marlene and Gwendolyn; and brothers, Dean, Phillip, and Tim.

John was a wonderful father and grandfather and was a veteran of the US Army.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ellen Carter; son, James Carter and wife Loretta of Charlotte; daughter, Angela Glance and husband Kenny of Kings Mountain; brother, Leman Carter of Kings Mountain; sister, Diane Goins of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Haven, Aubrie, and Jaycee; and special nieces Ashley and Summer.

A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Dewitt Youngblood, will be held at 3 pm Monday, May 8, 2017, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Carter Family Cemetery.

Mr. Carter will be receiving military funeral honors.
