John "J.C." Calvin Hodge

John "J.C." Calvin Hodge Sr., 86, passed away on May 1, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born May 1, 1929 in Marlboro County, SC, son of the late Robert Lena Hodge and Bessie Oxendine Hodge. Mr. Hodge was a US Army Veteran and he retired from Duke Energy. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia officiated by the Rev. Scott Whitener. The family will receive friends 5:30 - 7:00 p.m Tuesday prior to the service. Inurnment will be private. Mr. Hodge is survived by children, John Calvin Hodge Jr. and wife Dove, Teresa Hodge Wooten and husband Jack, Susan Hodge Oakes and husband Bob, Elizabeth Hodge, John Robert Hodge and wife Heather, James Ryan Hodge; nineteen grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Calvin John Hodge; granddaughter, Rebecca Hodge Williams; great - grandson, Riley Andrew Williams; thirteen siblings. Memorials may be sent to the Heart Society of Gaston County 1201 E. Garrison Blvd. Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
