John Bruzgis

John Bruzgis, 76, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his residence.

He was born December 17, 1945, in Union Co, NJ, son of the late John Joseph Bruzgis, Sr. and Olivette Canton.

John was a member of the American Legion in Gastonia, and the DAV. He was also a Vietnam Veteran, serving in The Army. John retired as quality assurance at Talon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Alexander Bruzgis; step-father, Gustavo Pego; and step-mother, Felicia Bruzgis; and brothers-in-law, Albert McKinney, and Richard Hart.

John is survived by his wife, Cathy McKinney; son, Phillip Bruzgis; daughter of the heart, Rhonda Smartt and husband Roger; brother, Gus Pego (Ana); sister, Marie Glass and husband William; grandchildren, Andrew Bruzgis, Madyson Smartt, and Lydia Smartt; and in-laws, Shirley Hart, Janet McKinney, Ralph McKinney (Rod Henry), and Joyce Pittard (Jim).

A service to celebrate the life of John will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm.
