Joe Simmons

Joe Simmons, 69, of Gastonia, passed away May 21, 2023, at his granddaughter's home in Lincolnton.

He was born May 30, 1953, in Gaston County, son of the late Ernest Lee Simmons Sr. and Betty Jo Reynolds Simmons.

Joe was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bessemer City.

He loved his family and his church family.

He was a 13-year veteran of the US Army and had proudly served his county.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church 304 West Indiana Avenue, Bessemer City, officiated by Pastor Robert Brooks and full military honors will be provided.

The family will receive friends 3-4 pm prior to the service at the church.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary Edwards Simmons; daughter, Crystal Simmons; brothers, Ernie Simmons, Reggie Simmons and wife Lorri, Randy Pearson; sister, Cathy Burgin and husband Randy; grandchildren, Alyssa Barrett and husband Coleman; Megan Keese, Christopher Keese.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by grandchild, Little Joey; stepmother, Blanche Carringer Simmons; brothers, Mike and Doug Simmons.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia, located at 1503 South York Road Gastonia.
