Joe A. Hamrick

Joe A. Hamrick, 64, of Cherryville, passed away on November 12, 2015, at Peak Resources, Cherryville. He was born November 18, 1950, in Charlotte, son of the late James Robert Hamrick and Florence Ramey Hamrick. Mr. Hamrick was a US Army Veteran. He was a man of God, who loved preaching God's word thru out the community. He enjoyed gospel music and was a longtime local musician who had mastered many instruments. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Roy Clark and Dr. Jerry Brooks. The family will receive friends 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cherryville City Cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Honor Guard. Mr. Hamrick is survived by son, David Hamrick and wife Rachel; sister, Winnie Summey; grandson, Brandon Hamrick; former wife, Catherine Gibson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Hamrick; brother, Rocky Hamrick; beloved dog, Peaches. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Sparrow Springs Baptist Church P.O. Box 671 Bessemer City, NC 28016. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
