Joe Lee Farris Sr.

Joe Lee Farris Sr., 83, of Clover, SC, formerly of Bessemer city, passed away on October 21, 2017 at his home.
He was born February 27, 1934, in Gaston County, son of the late Josie Floyd Farris and Leona Eskew Farris.
Mr. Farris was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, who had served in the Korean War.
He loved his family and always put their needs first.
He was the owner and the operator of Farris Grading Company.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Independent Baptist Tabernacle , 2128 Dallas- Cherryville Hwy. Dallas, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Hudson and the Rev. Luther Carver.
The family will receive friends 11:30 – 12:30 at the church prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Farris is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nellie Hudson Farris; son, Joe Lee Farris Jr.; daughter, Billie Farris Helms and husband Terry; brother, Lewis Farris; ; grandchildren, Joseph Farris, Ashley Hodge, Josh Causby, Daniel Helms, Melissa Helms; great-grandchildren, Brantley Farris, Addison Davis, Finley Helms.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Ruby Sellers.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
