Jimmy Wayne Walters Sr.

Jimmy Wayne Walters Sr., 73, of Gastonia, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 29, 1948, in Gaston Co., NC to the late Johnny Andrew Walters and Newell Edith Plemmons.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jackie Dewayne Walters, two brothers, Raymond and Dale Walters: two sisters, Brenda Edwards and Judy Blackstock.

Jimmy worked for Gaston College in the Grounds and Maintenance Department. He loved fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family and "piddling" in his buildings.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Emma Huffstetler Walters, son, Jimmy Walters Jr., daughter and son in law, Suzette & Craig Ellis, grandson Jimmy Walters III (Tess) and four great-grandchildren.  Brother and sisters, Wilber (Becky), Joyce Lingerfelt, Bobby (Kathy), Tony (Darlene), Tina Page (Wayne), Johnny Andrew (Michelle). Brothers and Sister in Laws, Betty Waters, Butch Huffstetler, Keith Huffstetler, Mike Huffstetler, Pat Ivey, Debbie Townsend (James), Janice Moss (Clarence), Todd Huffstetler (Cindy). Numerous nieces and nephews. His special grand dog Tucker.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Jeff Silvers will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Springwood Freewill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 Pm prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow the service at Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas, NC.
