Jimmy Ray Melton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy "Jim" Ray Melton, who left us on February 23, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 30, 1942, in North Carolina, to the late Harlon and Carrie Melton.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ethel Melton; son, Michael Melton (Donna); brother, Steve Melton; sister, Mildred Waters; granddaughter, Jessica Melton.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Melton; sisters, Elizabeth Jones and Louise Poole.

Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Jim's life. A visitation will be held on February 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the same location. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, 1462 Armstrong Ford Rd., Belmont, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Mountain Ridge Baptist Church, 262 Sparrow Springs Road, Kings Mtn, NC 28086.
