Jimmy "Big G" Chandler Sr.

Jimmy "Big G" Chandler, Sr., 61, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully July 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 18, 1953, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Jones Harvey Chandler and Vernette Davis Chandler. Jimmy attended Gospel Light Holiness Church in Gastonia and retired from the City of Gastonia after 25 years of service. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Vivian Chandler; aunts, Katherine and Margie; brother, David "Roadrunner" Chandler; sisters, Faye Warr and Linda Kay Ewart; brother-in-law, Miles Davis; sisters-in-law, Teresa Childers and Maryann Chandler; nieces and nephews, Ann, Liz, Bridget, Crystal, Alex, Austin, Vickey, Maddy, Arieonna, Jonathan, Zac, Savannah, Michael, Greg, Donna, Richard, Becky and Pat. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Chandler, Jr.; brother, Michael Chandler and sister, Betty Sue Chandler. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Willard. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
