Jimmy Ray Carr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Ray Carr, age 76, of Gastonia, North Carolina. Born on October 17, 1949, in North Carolina, Jimmy departed this life peacefully on June 18, 2026.

Jimmy was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. Mrs. Sandra Carr was the love of his life. Together, they shared a bond that was a testament to true companionship-holding hands wherever they went, their love serving as an inspiration to all who knew them. Known for his kindness and warmth, Jimmy loved the simple things in life-from enjoying moments with his little dogs, Princess and Sweetie, to sharing laughter and joy with his family. His unwavering faith in the Lord guided him through life, shaping his character and nurturing a spirit of gratitude.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Essie Carr; brothers, Bill, Blair, Larry, Luke; and sister, Carolyn Frazier.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; sons, Greg Carr and spouse Lisa with grandchildren Alex and Raygan, Chris Carr and spouse Dawn with grandchildren Carson and Zackary, Corey Carr and spouse Virginia with grandchildren, Madison, Kayla, Chloe and Jacob; one remaining sister, Delores Carr Thomas.

A visitation for Jimmy will be held on Tuesday June 23, 2026, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S York Rd Gastonia, NC 28052.
