It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmie Dean Bell, who left us on December 28, 2024, at the age of 77. he was born on August 22, 1947, in Gaston County, North Carolina, where he resided most of his life.
Jimmie was a skilled welder, who dedicated many years of his life to Guthrie's Machine Shop in Bessemer City. He had a passion for his work and took pride in everything he did. While he may have left school after the 12th grade, his hands-on skills and work ethic were truly remarkable.
Jimmie loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He cherished his daughters Laura McGugan and husband Hardin Fugate, Barbara Atkins, sons William Bell, Jeff Bell, Jason Bell and Chad Burgess, and he reveled in the joy of being surrounded by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters. He was a family man at heart. When he wasn't busy working, you could find him tinkering on cars or cooking up a storm in the kitchen. He had a particular fondness for Sundrop, which he enjoyed with many of the meals he prepared.
Jimmie's funeral service will be held at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service on Sunday, January 5, 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Scott Whitener officiating, where we will gather to celebrate his life and the memories we shared with him. The family will receive friends from 7 -9 pm on Saturday, January 4, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
We will miss his smile, his laughter, and the warmth he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Frances Beaver Bell, parents, Glenn and Mildred Bell, granddaughter Samantha Burgess.
