Jim Dotson

Jim Dotson, 86, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on January 2, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Willie Alman Dotson and Betty Lou Estes Dotson.

Jim was a member of Union Presbyterian Church of God in Gastonia. He was an Army Veteran who proudly served his country from 12/01/1953 to 10/31/1961. He was a member of the VFW Post 9337, the American Legion and NRA. Jim assisted in recovery efforts after hurricane Isabel, Katrina, and Rita. Jim was also an avid chess player.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Cooper Dotson, and brothers, Charles, and Robert Dotson.

Left to cherish Jim's memories are his brother, Melton Dotson and wife Joan; sisters, Nancy Helms and husband John, Lorene Ward, and Hattie Boesen; and number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Dotson, officiated by Pastor James Holeman, will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 11:00 am located at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment to follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
