Jewel Patterson

Jewel S. Patterson, 82, passed away May 2, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Cosby TN; daughter of the late Bertha Lemons. She was a long time member of Unity Baptist Church in Gastonia. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila P. Hooper and her grandson Houston C. Patterson. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Charles D. Patterson; sons, Rickie Phillips, Dennis Phillips; daughter, Diane Morris; step children, Ricky Patterson, Mike Patterson, Pam Patterson; 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. She raised her grandsons, Timothy and J.W. Medlin, after the death of their mother, Sheila. A service will be held at 3 pm on Monday at Unity Baptist Church, 482 N. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia. Officiated by Pastor Roger Mathis. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Samaritans Purse P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
