GASTONIA -- Jewel Jimison Parker, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at her residence. A Gaston County native, she was born Aug. 22, 1924, to the late James Edgar Jimison and Blanch Jimison Nance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, JC Parker; and siblings, Chalmas Jimison, Ray Jimison and Margaret Place. Mrs. Parker is survived by her daughter, Patricia Parker Foy and husband, James Edward Foy; siblings, Hilda Weaver and Joyce Elmore Hogan; grandson, James Edward Foy II and wife, Doris; granddaughter, Jennifer Foy Helms and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Kendall Helms, Gab-rielle Helms, and Hayley Foy; step n great-grandchildren, Jennifer French, Magen Danner, and Nathan Danner; step great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Coel Sanders. Jewel was a life-long member of East Baptist Church where she was a member of Hilda Weaver Sunday School Class and served in various de-partments from nursery to the youth department. She served as the secretary for the Association for the Visually Impaired, and was a member of the VFW auxiliary, Woodman of the World, and XYZ Club at Parkwood Baptist Church. She worked at Eagle's Department store for 18 years and A.B. Carter for 25 years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Tim Parker and Dr. Rev. Bob Winecoff, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Baptist Church, Gastonia. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to East Baptist Church, 114 N. Church St., Gastonia, NC 28054, or Cancer Services of Gaston County, 306 S. Columbia St., Gastonia, NC 28054.
