Jewel Sawyer Beavers

Jewel Sawyer Beavers, 91, of Gastonia, was welcomed into heaven Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

She was born October 21, 1931, to the late Willis and Cassie Irene Sawyer.

Jewel was a wonderful wife. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Gastonia. She was very active in her church over the years, she taught children's Sunday School, an adult Church Training Class, was a member of Women Active for Christ and the Golden Age Club. She played the piano and organ for her church for many years and sang in the choir. She loved her family, Church, and her pastor. Most of all she loved her Lord. She was ready for heaven… but "not until the Lord is through with me here"

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill, two sisters and one grandson.

Jewel is survived by her three daughters, Vickie Liverett, Gail Cabe, Donna Abernathy (Danny); one son, Benny Beavers (Dianne); seven granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Darin Gibbs and Jonathon Cribb will be held at 1:30 Pm on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at First Freewill Baptist Church on Union Road. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
