Jerry Willis Strickland, Sr.

Jerry Willis Strickland, Sr., 83 of Lowell, NC, passed away suddenly April 25, 2024. He was born to the late Braxton and Aretta Arnette Strickland of Brevard, NC.  He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 48 years, Polly Fore Strickland, sons Earl and Tim, and grandson, John Earl Strickland Jr., his brother and sister-in-law Donnie and Barbara Strickland, brother-in-law Don Wilson.

Left to keep his memory alive are his family and friends: Children and daughters-in-law – Rhonda Davis, Jerry Strickland Jr. (Pam), Crystal Sutton (Nate Miller), Lynne Strickland (Tim), Linda Strickland (Earl); Grandchildren – Heather Shealey (Adam), Falon Smith, Cassandra Penley (Chris), Matthew Strickland, Chris Strickland (Courtney), Josh Patton, Lee Davis (Regina), Adam Strickland, Julia Sutton Stokes (Brandon), Blake Sutton (Wendy); Great-grandchildren – Macie Monroe, Aaron Shealey, Aiden Strickland, Katelyn Penley, Elizabeth Penley, Connor Strickland, Myles Sutton, Spencer Stokes, Aubrey Strickland; Sister-in-law – Gladious Wilson, former son-in-law Alex Sutton; Nieces and nephews.

Dad was proud to have been in the Army. Dad was not a jack of all trades – he was a master of them! He could do anything and taught us all what we know. He worked hard to provide a good life for his family, and we will forever be grateful.

Dad was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed attending Sunset Forest Baptist also, he was a member of the Gaston Gem and Mineral Club. He loved fishing, the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Panthers, racing and his family.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, April 30, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, with the Rev. Heath Honeycutt officiating.

Committal service officiated by Rev. Jeff Hicks.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont.

Pallbearers will be Lee Davis, Blake Sutton, Francis Lusk, Adam Shealey, Aaron Shealey, and John Livingston.
