Jerry Stevens "Steve" Gaddy, II, September 7, 1958 - February 16, 2024.

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Jerry "Steve" Gaddy, of Gastonia, who passed away on February 16, 2024, at the age of 65. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend to many. His carefree soul and the joy he brought to all will be greatly missed.

Born on September 7, 1958, Steve lived a life marked by service and adventure. Steve proudly served his country as a Navy Corpsman, where his dedication to the wellbeing of his fellow servicemen – particularly the Marines with whom he worked closely – was highly regarded. Throughout his life, he embodied the spirit and discipline instilled in him through his military experience.

Steve's love for reggae music and its positive messages mirrored his own approach to life—full of vitality and love. "Love the life you live. Live the life you love," as Bob Marley said, captures the zest with which Steve lived each day. His passion for being near the water was undeniable, finding peace and enjoyment in kayaking, fishing, and simply spending time on his boat. Whether he was sharing laughter with loved ones or telling tales that captivated an audience, his carefree personality was a breath of fresh air to all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Kim; his daughter, Emily Cole Saunders and son-in-law John Saunders; daughter Kelly Cole Newland and son-in-law Kevin Newland; granddaughters Alydia Newland and Arabella Newland; his sister, Debbie Melton; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Steve's legacy will continue through the lives of his family and the treasured memories held by all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held in Steve's honor at Cavendish Brewing Company in Gastonia on March 2nd at 1:00 pm. In keeping with Steve's love for simplicity and authenticity, the dress code will be casual.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the community and to those who have shown such support and love during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's honor to the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation at https://catawbariverkeeper.networkforgood.com/, reflecting his generous nature and his love for the water.

"Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny." — Bob Marley

May Steve's spirit sail on eternally, navigating the waters of the great beyond, leaving a wake of cherished memories and lasting love. We bid him fair winds and following seas as we say our final salute.

Please direct any condolences and remembrances to Greene Funeral Home, which is overseeing the arrangements. The Gaddy family is grateful for your support and the shared remembrances of the incredible life Steve lived.
