Jerry Lee Smith, 76, of Dallas, NC passed away on November 25, 2012 at his home. Visitation will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church on Tuesday November 27, 2012 at 6:00-8:30pm. Funeral service will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 3:00 pm with Reverend Earl Stanley of Crowders View Freewill Baptist Church and Pastor Chris Doster of Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, NC. Mr. Smith was born in Gaston County to Jesse Smith and Myrtle Smith White on March 7, 1936. He served in the US Army. He worked for the Gaston County Police and worked at Akers Motor Lines as Payroll Specialist and also worked at Billings Freight Systems as a Terminal Manager. He was greatly involved in church and served as a deacon. He enjoyed gospel music recording, woodworking, fishing, college basketball, NFL football, and most of all his family. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Billy Blair Smith and Parents. Jerry Lee Smith is survived by his wife, Edna Bradshaw Smith of Dallas, daughter and son-in-law Carlin and David Hardin of Dallas, daughter and son-in-law Mikie and Chris Gibson of Mt. Holly, NC, daughter and son-in-law Jade and Ray Human of Hampstead, NC, sisters Mary Smith Bradshaw of Gastonia, NC and Carol Ellington of Gastonia, NC, grandchildren Adam Franklin, Ashley Franklin, Lee Franklin, Logan Human, Hannah Human, Aaron Morgan, Bobby Hardin and special bonus daughter Shelly Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar St., Lincolnton,NC 28092. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his church, Crowders View Freewill Baptist, Hospice, Maranatha Baptist Church, Greene Funeral Service and the many kind and gracious friends during his sickness and passing.
