Jerry Eugene McSwain, II
(January 15, 1964 - January 12, 2024)
Jerry loved his mother and father. Jerry loved his brothers and sisters and his in laws. He loved the mothers of his children. He loved his nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He loved his grandparents. But most of all, Jerry loved his children and his grandchildren.
Jerry had an enormous work ethic. He was never without a job; sometimes working two and three jobs at once to support his children. He worked steadily from his early teens and took pride in never being fired from a job. At his last place of employment, he worked for almost twenty years as a traveling mechanic for a company that installed conveyors all over North America. Being well liked by his fellow employees, and because he was so good at his job, he was asked to train newly hired employees. Only an on-the-job injury, which resulted in debilitating surgeries, could keep him from working.
As a child, Jerry was very sweet, and you rarely saw him without a smile on his face. He spent as much time outside as possible - swimming, riding a mini-bike, playing yard games like hopscotch, hide-and-seek, and marbles. He always had a tan - even in the dead of winter.
In his years as a teen, Jerry took joy in playing baseball as an excellent centerfielder and in rounding the bases due to his powerful swing. Later, he was known to play softball and watch a good bit of NASCAR. During his working years, he spent as much time as a he could with his kids and grandkids. Throughout his life, he gained a wide circle of friends with whom he loved to "joke and smoke."
Generous to a fault, his good heart always forgave those that took advantage of that generosity. Jerry never failed to show his appreciation and to give thanks to his family and friends who, at times, gave him a helping hand.
Jerry's spirit left his failing, earthly body to go to a place of peace. Having, at last, found that peaceful place, there is no doubt that he wishes for all of his family and friends to be at peace not only with his passing but also with each other.
Due to the continued spread of the coronavirus, Jerry's family will honor his life in private.
