Jerry Dean Jenkins

I t is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Dean Jenkins, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry was born in Cherokee County, SC, on May 19, 1949, to the late Roy and Edna Dean Moss Jenkins. Jerry went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 20, 2024, at the age of 75. He retired from STI after 42 years as a dedicated department manager and was known for his hard work and commitment.

Jerry's passions included hunting, fishing, cruising, and spending time with his family and his beloved Schnauzer, Gunner. An avid Duke basketball fan, he always enjoyed watching the games with his family.  He faithfully studied God's Word and loved sharing that knowledge with others, teaching Sunday school for 20 years. His love for his family, especially his two grandsons, was unparalleled.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Doris W. Jenkins; children, Dina Spencer (Ricky), Diane Jenkins, David Jenkins (Sandra), and Justin Myers; grandsons, Nicholas Spencer and Vince Jenkins; brother, Tony Jenkins (Kathy); brother-in-law, Johnny Weaver; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Bolin and Dianne Jenkins.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In honor of Jerry's memory, a funeral service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E Cherokee St, Blacksburg, SC, 29702, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Adam Green.

Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mtn, NC.
