Jerry D. Hopper

Jerry D. Hopper, 82, of Clover, SC, passed away May 1, 2016 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.  He was born April 14, 1934 in Gaston County, the son of the late Raymond and Mamie Hopper.

Jerry was a member of Myrtle Methodist Church.  He was a veteran of the US Navy who served during the Korean War.  He retired from Uniroyal Chemicals.  Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sandra Hopper; son Jerry S. Hopper and wife Pamela; daughter Jana Shepard and husband Mike; step-daughter Pam Messori; nine grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sister Dorica Holland; many nieces and nephews and special neighbors Bryan and Robin McQueen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Oneta Hopper; brother Donald Hopper and step-children Andrew "Butch" Evans and Andrea Skalandi.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Chester Waters, will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday at Westview Gardens.

The family will receive friends 12 – 2 pm prior to the service at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28056 or First Baptist Church of Bessemer City, 107 E. Washington Avenue, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
