Jerry Champion

Jerry Champion, 75, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his residence.

A native of Gaston County, he was born on May 26, 1948, to the late Forest & Geneva Champion.

Jerry was a member of Crowders Mountain Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He had worked at Cinderella Knitting and Armtech. Jerry was also a veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Johnny William Champion; brothers, Richard Allen Champion, Andy Eugene Champion; sister, Sandra Champion Monroe; daughter in law, Judy Champion.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Georgia Ann Monroe Champion; sons, Michael Champion, David Wayne Champion and fiancé Sandra Phillips; six grandchildren, Amber Elliott, Kyle Champion, Katie Champion, Karissa and Marissa Phillips, Shelley Costner; six great-grandchildren, Grayson Champion, Sailor Wayn Cable, Yelena Elliott, Emily McDonald, McKenzie Sherer, Dean Sherer.

A Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Larry Laws will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, 5:00 PM at Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, 125 Mayberry Lane, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
