Jeronimo Mejia

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeronimo Mejia Herrera, who left us peacefully on September 22, 2025, just days shy of his 67th birthday. Jeronimo was born on September 30, 1958, in El Salvador, but made his home in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he touched many lives.

Jeronimo was a talented chef who dedicated his career to the restaurant industry, sharing his love for food and cooking with everyone around him, especially his lasagna. He was known for his warm spirit, passionate cooking, and was very giving. He was the best son, and had a great sense of humor, and was a great friend. He liked to sunbathe, drink coffee, and was devoted to his children.

He is survived by his beloved children: Andrew Alexis Mejia and Cynthia Mejia, and son-in-law Jorge Avila, Madelinne Mejia and Hector, and adopted daughter Julia Mejia de Isidoro, brothers: Saturnino, and Dionisio; sisters, Rubenia, and Antonia; and grand fur babies, Panda, Flash, Pumba, Midnight, Luna, and Athen, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.

Jeronimo was preceded in death by his parents: Miguel A. Mejia, Maria Leonor Herrera ; brothers:Andres Mejia, Antonio Mejia, and Ricardo Mejia and sister, Fransisca Mejia.

We invite you to pay your respects and celebrate Jeronimo's life at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 1:00PM-3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Jeronimo will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park - 1200 S New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054 at 4:00 PM.

Con el corazón lleno de tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Jerónimo Mejía Herrera, quien partió en paz el 22 de septiembre de 2025, a pocos días de cumplir 67 años. Jerónimo nació el 30 de septiembre de 1958 en El Salvador, pero hizo su hogar en Gastonia, Carolina del Norte, donde tocó muchas vidas.

Jerónimo fue un talentoso chef que dedicó su carrera a la industria restaurantera, compartiendo su amor por la comida y la cocina con todos a su alrededor, especialmente con su famosa lasaña. Era conocido por su espíritu cálido, su pasión al cocinar y su generosidad. Fue el mejor hijo, con un gran sentido del humor y un amigo excepcional. Le gustaba tomar el sol, disfrutar de un buen café y, sobre todo, era un padre amoroso y excepcional.

Le sobreviven sus queridos hijos: Andrew Alexis Mejía y Cynthia Mejía, junto a su yerno Jorge Ávila; Madelinne Mejía y Héctor; y su hija adoptiva Julia Mejía de Isidoro. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Saturnino y Dionisio; sus hermanas Rubenia y Antonia; y sus adoradas nietos de pelos : Panda, Flash, Pumba, Midnight, Luna y Athen, quienes siempre guardan en su corazón los recuerdos compartidos.

Jerónimo fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres: Miguel A. Mejía y María Leonor Herrera; sus hermanos Andrés Mejía, Antonio Mejía y Ricardo Mejía; y su hermana Francisca Mejía.
