Jennie Lind Anderson Coe

Gastonia - Jennie Lind Anderson Coe received the perfect healing on, October 14, 2012. "Wife" went to be with the Lord and her loving "Husband," Clyde Hilary Coe. Jennie was one of six children born to Phillip and Ruth Anderson. She grew up in Geneva County Alabama and graduated high school from Coffee Springs High School. She received her teaching degree from Alabama Teachers' College, and achieved subsequent degrees from University of Alabama. In her 37 years of teaching in the classroom, being a Supervisor of Instruction for Enterprise City Schools, and teaching Reading for the Elementary Teacher at Troy State University, she retired to "the farm". After formal retirement Jennie loved to volunteer with organizations to help others. Mrs. Coe volunteered with the Food Pantry, Literacy Council, the Salvation Army, tutoring at various elementary schools, and cooking the best food you have ever eaten, for friends and family. When "Husband" passed away, Jennie moved to North Carolina to be closer to her two daughters; Cherise Hilary Coe Vaughn and Iris Lind Coe Avery; son-in-law Paul H. Avery, Jr.; eight grandchildren; Derek Vaughn, Jonathan Vaughn and wife Kaia Vaughn, Ashley Avery LaCourse and husband Jason LaCourse, Christopher Aaron Avery and fiancée Lauren Janelle Piasecki, Abigail Lind Avery; and her great grand-girls, Addison Reynolds LaCourse and Elora Riley LaCourse. Her favorite activities were loving and spoiling her children and grandchildren, teaching Sunday school and various Bible studies, READING and listening to classical music. At the time of her death, Mrs. Coe was an active and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church of Gastonia North Carolina. Jennie's Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, October 19, 2012. It will be held at First United Methodist Church on Franklin Blvd. in the sanctuary, at 3:30 pm, with Reverend David Christy, Dr. Jim Westmoreland, and Reverend C.B. Barr, each officiating. A brief gathering of friends and family will follow the celebration service, in the church Parlor. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaston Literacy Council, the American Cancer Society and Interfaith Hospitality Network of Churches in Gaston County. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Doctors who took care of "Mimi" through her various illnesses. Additionally, a special thank you to "Mrs. Jennie's" dedicated and loving caregiver, Rebecca Stewart. Without Becky, we could not have sustained the quality and dignity of life, for our Mother in her own home, as was her expressed wish for her last earthly days. Thank you also to the pastors, staff, Stephens Ministers, and loyal friends and family of First United Methodist Church, Gastonia. Greene Funeral Service of Gastonia is serving the family of Mrs. Jennie Lind Coe.
