Jay Will Greene, 73, of Dallas, passed away March 15, 2017 at his residence.
He was born September 11, 1943, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Joseph Clyde Greene and May Love Smith Greene.
Jay was a retired Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years Vicki Kennedy Greene; son and daughter-in-law Jay and Lisa Greene; daughter Emily Greene Houser; grandsons Jacob, Connor, Jonah Greene and Austin Houser; sisters Betty Worsham, Susie Cunningham, Patricia Hall and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Greene, Jack Greene, Joseph Greene and Ronald Greene; sisters Sara Norris, Barbara Thompson, Phyllis Brown, Judy Lewis and Debra Thompson.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jody Freeman, will be held 3 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, with honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends 1:30 – 3:00 pm Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
A private burial will be in the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury.
