Jason McKenley Salyer, Sr., 91, of Gastonia, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
He was born on May 16, 1930, in Kings Port, TN, to the late Stephen Frank Salyer and Nora Belle Garland Salyer.
Jason was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired pastor and was active in mission work in the Philippines, through the Freedom Christian Center in Charlotte. Jason had both his private pilot license and commercial pilot license and loved flying planes.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James Salyer and Stephen F. Salyer, Jr.
Left to cherish Jason's memories are his loving wife, Liza Salyer and their son, Jason "JM" Salyer III; sons, Mike Salyer, Jason Salyer II; daughter, Christina Salyer; sisters, Barbara Charles and husband Edwin, Betty Breidinger, and Nora Boone; grandchildren, Cameron, Michela, and Louie; and great grandson, John.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dean Melton, Pastor Darey Jolley, Pastor Karen Jolley, and Pastor Todd Melton, will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Freedom Christian Center – 4020 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208.
