Janice Skidmore Carpenter

February 2, 1949 — June 20, 2025

With deep sorrow and abiding faith, we announce that our beloved mom, Janice Carpenter, born on February 2, 1949, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in Gaston County, she was a devoted Christian who lived a life grounded in faith, love and family. She was a long-time member of Soul's Harbor Tabernacle in Dallas, NC. She often reminded others to "put God first in all things and all things will work together for our good. Just hold on." Her Bible was well worn, and she was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering prayer. Whether through her words or gentle spirit, she reflected God's love to all who knew her. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a guiding light to those around her.

She spent most of her career working in the textile industry and part time Avon lady--known for her strong work ethic and quiet perseverance. But to those who knew her best, she was much more than her work, she found joy in life's simple blessings.

Her happiest days were those spent surrounded by family, and nothing meant more to her than time with her loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Perry) Buff, Dana (Paul) Eckard and Vickie (Billy) Miscichowski, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, her brothers, Jim (Mary Ann) Skidmore and Dwight (Candy) Skidmore, sister in-law, Sue Skidmore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Carpenter. We hold fast to the thoughts of her being reunited with brothers, Vernon and Terry (Dianne) Skidmore, her parents Jud and Helen Skidmore and for the first time, holding her son, Johnny Foy Jr.

Her legacy of faith, strength and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. As she often sang, "What a day that will be......" and what a beautiful day it must be in Heaven now.

A funeral service will be held to honor Janice's life at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, with Pastor James Stacks and Pastor Jim Burns, officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Janice will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont, NC.
