Jan Elizabeth Henry Campbell

August 14, 1940 — April 18, 2025

Gastonia

Jan Elizabeth Henry Campbell, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by her family. Born on August 14, 1940, in Clover, South Carolina, Jan moved to Gastonia, North Carolina as a young child and spent the rest of her life there, cherishing her community and family. She attended Flint Groves School and was a graduate of Ashley High School where she met John, her husband of over 46 years.

Jan was a lifelong member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary and was a member of the senior choir and the Three Score senior club. She loved music and dancing, especially square dancing with her husband John. Her passion for music was only matched by her love of crafting. A talented seamstress, Jan had a knack for arts and crafts, creating lovely items that brought joy to all those around her. She loved dining out with her husband, other family members, and friends. She was an avid bird watcher and a football fan. She enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and loved spending time with her "grand-dogs".

Jan also loved to travel. She took many fun trips to the beach and the mountains. She loved camping with her family. She also was privileged to travel to Europe with her beloved cousins Evelyn and Erlene, to take a cross-country retirement trip with her husband, and to spend time in California with her lifelong friend Stella from high school.

In addition to her church secretary job, Jan was an expert typist for a publishing company and an administrative professional in the manufacturing, healthcare, and retail industries. She also worked for an accounting firm and the U.S. government and served as an Election Day Volunteer and reading aide. Jan never met a stranger, and her warm smile and laughter touched everyone who knew her.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents Andrew Clarence and Mildred Stowe Henry, her husband John Campbell, and her daughter, Jane Campbell.

Jan is survived by her beloved daughter, Jeanna Flowers (Scott), beloved son, Johnny Campbell (Penny), grandchildren, Jake Campbell, Taylor Christenbury (David), Chelsea Kissiah (Michael) and Harrison Campbell, great grandchildren, Tristan and Arwen Christenbury, and Anakin and Caris Kissiah. She is also survived by numerous beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S York Rd. Gastonia, NC.
