Kings Mountain

With deep love and sadness, the family of James Michael Zeunik announces his passing on August 23, 2025, at his home in Kings Mountain, NC, at the age of 89. Born September 29, 1935, in Indianapolis, IN, to his mother Mary Margit (Simko) Zeunik and father Alvin Albert Zeunik, Jim lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faith and career.

After completing his education in Indianapolis, Jim attended Butler University and proudly served in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge. He went on to enjoy a successful and varied career: first as a technician and manager with American District Telegraph (ADT), then as a driver for J.B. Hunt, and later as the owner and operator of two successful ServiceMaster franchises.

Jim was a beloved husband to Minnie Loretta (Flores) Zeunik and later to Mary Lynne (Palmer) Zeunik. He was a devoted father to James Patrick (Sherry) Zeunik, Robert Alan (Karla) Zeunik, Scott Michael Zeunik, Lisa Dawn Zeunik, Kimberly Idora Whisnant, Teri Ann (Thomas) Duffy, and Laura Elaine Palmer. He was also a proud grandfather to Michael Zeunik, Ashlee (Keller) Merritt, Haley Whisnant, Alexis Whisnant, Ellen Larsen, Samuel Larsen, Claire (Larsen ) Jackson & Lea Duffy. And the family wishes to give special recognition to Tonda Helms; Jim & Mary's primary caregiver for the past 8 years. Her dedication, love, sympathies & care, along with Kim's, has been invaluable & greatly appreciated.

He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor, and unwavering integrity. Jim loved music and dancing, enjoyed shooting pool, and never turned down a good card game with friends. He was an avid sports fan who cherished time spent gathering with loved ones.

A man of deep faith, he sought to live by its lessons each day and instilled in his children a strong work ethic and a sense of decency and honesty that will carry on as his legacy.

Jim is survived by his children and grandchildren, as well as extended family and many friends who will forever treasure his memory. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie Loretta (Flores) Zeunik; his second wife, Mary Lynne (Palmer) Zeunik; his daughter, Charlotte Christina Palmer; his sister, Elizabeth Louise Turk; and his brother, Alvin Albert Zeunik & granddaughter Hannah Larsen.
