James W. Whitehurst

Gastonia, NC James W. Whitehurst, 76, passed away July 21, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Med. Ctr., Gastonia. He was born March 1, 1937 in Chipley, FL, son of the late Obbie Lee Whitehurst and Esther Traywick Whitehurst. Mr. Whitehurst was Owner/Operator of House of James Beauty Salon and Jano's in Gastonia. A memorial service will be held 2 pm on Saturday at Mt. Holly Church of God, officiated by Rev. Dennis Bean. The family will receive friends 1:30 -2 pm on Saturday prior to the service at the church. Interment is private. He is survived by: sons, Randy Whitehurst and wife, Monica, Ricky whitehurst and wife, Dawn all of Gastonia; daughters, Terry Weaver of Gastonia, Vicky Brown and husband, Gary of Hickory Grove, SC; brother, Wade Whitehurst and wife, Brenda of SC; sister, Carolyn Polisky of Landis, NC; partner/companion, Pat Hudson of Gastonia; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Whitehurst. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association of NC, 514 Daniels St., Suite 109, Raleigh, NC 27605.
