James Weaver

He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Gastonia, son of the late James and Bessie Weaver.

James was a member and deacon of Flint Groves Baptist Church. He was a godly and giving man who loved his family and helping others.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Blankenship, Helen Davis, Ruby Groves, Catherine Summey; and brother, Paul Weaver.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 68 years, Lucille Jenkins Weaver; son, Mike Weaver (Yvonne) of Texas; daughter, Donna Burgess (Tim); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Corbet, Gloria Moore and Nell Whitesides.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 E Ozark Ave., Gastonia, with Pastor Ronnie Bowers officiating.

A receiving of friends will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
