James Patrick Waters

Gastonia
James Patrick Waters, 78, of Gastonia, passed away on September 12, 2018, at Brian Center, Gastonia.
He was born December 19, 1939, in Gaston County, son of the late Zeb Vance Waters Jr. and Helen Harmon Waters.
Mr. Waters was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Clover, SC, where he taught Sunday School and was on the church board of directors.
James was a 1958 graduate of Kings Mountain High School.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Brent Boykin.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Mr. Waters is survived by children, Dwayne Waters and wife Glenda, Cathy Heavener, Lorie Splawn and husband David, Michael Waters and wife Teresa, Mike Heavener; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; fur baby, Scooter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Jean Water of4 3 years; paternal grandparents Zeb Vance Waters Sr. and Fannie Crow Waters; maternal grandparents, Johnnie Harmon and Lola Houser Harmon.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Brian Center of Gastonia, for their loving and compassionate care of Mr. Waters.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
