Greene Funeral Service Tele 704-867-5521 Fax 704-867-4964 James "Kelly" Vowell , 55 , of Bessemer City passed away February 9, 2014 at his home. He was born December 15, 1958 in Hammond, Indiana, son of Jean Vowell and the late Elbert Sonny Vowell. "Kelly" was a loving husband, father, son and brother who loved his family dearly. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed outdoor activities including golf and hunting. He was an avid sports fan. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Friday, February 14, 2014 at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 2:00 -3:45 pm Friday before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In addition to his mother, "Kelly" is survived by: his loving wife of 18 years, Jenny Vowell; sons, Kirk and Keith Vowell both of Chicago; daughters, Kara and Kylee Vowell both of Bessemer City; brothers, Mike Vowell (Jennifer) of Houston, Bryan Vowell (Karen) of Merrillville, Shawn Vowell (Jessica) of San Antonio; numerous nephews and nieces.
