Rev. James "Pete" Strickland Jr.

The Rev. James "Pete" Strickland Jr., 81, of Kings Mountain, passed away on April 16, 2018, at his home.
He was born August 14, 1936, in Gaston County, son of the late James Strickland Sr. and Eula Crane Wood.
Rev. Strickland was a faithful servant of God who preached the gospel for over 35 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia.
James loved his family dearly and will greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was a veteran of the US Marines.
A homegoing service for Rev. Strickland will be held 1:00pm Friday, April 20, 2018, at First Assembly of God, Gastonia, officiated by Pastors Dennis Boyce, Junior Gunn and Lamar Creel.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Rev. Strickland is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shelby Jean Strickland; brother, Melvin Wood and wife, Violet; sister, Jean Russell and husband, Sherlon; children, James Strickland II, Mike Strickland and wife, Mary, Debbie Day and husband, Ronnie, Donnie Strickland and wife, Debbie; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to First Assembly of God 777 South Myrtle School Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052.
