James Lee Skidmore Sr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Lee Skidmore Sr., age 80, who peacefully departed this life on August 10, 2026, in Gastonia, North Carolina. Born on May 6, 1946, in Lowell, NC, James lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

James was a proud Army veteran, often reminiscing about his time in service with a sparkle in his eye. He instilled a sense of pride in his family, who admired his remarkable work ethic during his long career as a supervisor in the textile industry. His life experience was rich, and he became a lifelong teacher in many ways.

James was a classic car enthusiast, often spent weekends tinkering on his beloved vehicles, and could frequently be found riding his motorcycle with a carefree spirit. His love for classic country music and Elvis Presley filled the family home with melodies, while his passion for Western movies made movie nights an adventure of their own. He had a striking resemblance to Kenny Rogers, and he took great pride in his hair, often teasing that his looks were the envy of many.

Family was paramount to James, and he is survived by his loving sons, Jason Skidmore (Sonya), Josh Skidmore (Amy), James Skidmore Jr.; his daughters, Amber Jackson (Tristan) and Angela Moore (Ray). James was adored by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom holds a piece of his heart.

A funeral service honoring James's life will be held at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 am, following a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at 1462 Armstrong Ford Rd., Belmont, NC 28012.

James Lee Skidmore Sr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and family connection will continue to inspire all who knew him.
