James "Jim" Ross Thomas, 87, of Gastonia passed away October 28, 2018 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
He was born on July 10, 1931 in Banks County, Georgia, the son of the late, Robert Franklin Thomas and Margaret Eva Campbell Thomas.
Jim was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia. He was a former member of Yorkwook Church of God, a clerk for over 25 years and a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. He retired from Pepsico after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Helen White Thomas; son, Mike Thomas and wife, Lynda; brothers, Harry and John Thomas; sisters, Joy Jenkins and husband Dewey and Lois Dowdy; grandchildren, Whitney McCarter and husband, Josh, Lindsey Thomas and Jeron Thomas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Lucille Smith Thomas; and brothers, Billy, Eddie and Bob Thomas.
A funeral service will be held 10 am, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia officiated by Pastors Dennis Boyce and Lamar Creel.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
