James "Red" Reese

James "Red" Reese, 83, of Gastonia passed away on December 14, 2014 at Courtland Terrace, Gastonia. He was born April 22, 1931 in Cherokee County, NC, son of the late Ben Reese and Callie Payne Reese. He was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church, Bessemer City and a Gaston County native. "Red" was an amateur radio operator whose call sign was WA4CAN . He was retired from East Gastonia Hardware where he was a TV repairman. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Bright Light Baptist Church, 112 White Jenkins Rd. Bessemer City officiated by Pastors,Wayne Reese, Ronnie Pressley and Michael Horne. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Inurnment will be private. "Red" is survived by: his loving wife of over 60 years, Ruth H. Reese; sons, Wayne Reese and wife Dianne, Jerry Reese and wife Sharon; daughter, Angela Hoyle and husband Michael; sisters, Katheryn Horne, Helen McCready; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: a grandchild Memorials may be sent to Bright Light Baptist Church, 112 White Jenkins Road Bessemer City, NC 28016. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium Gastonia.
