James Ray Bingham

James Ray Bingham, 81, of Gastonia, passed away April 18, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

He was born August 6, 1935, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late James Manuel Bingham and Vernie Slagle Bingham.  He was a member of New Hope Church of God.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 37 years, Shirley Ann Bingham; brother, James "Dan" Bingham; step-sons, Mark and Gerald Hawkins; daughters, Deborah Bingham Jones and Tammy Bingham; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Anderson, Eddis Thomas and Margie Heath; brother Oliver Bingham and son Michael Bingham.

The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:45 pm Friday, April 21, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Mark Oaks, will be held 2 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
