James Franklin Propst Sr.

James "Pat" Franklin Propst, Sr., age 80, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A Gaston County native, he was born March 1, 1932, son of the late Colonel Preston Propst, Sr. and the late Elmar Hill Propst. He was a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Colonel Preston Propst, Jr. Mr. Propst is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Miller Propst of the home; sons, James "Jimmy" Propst, Jr. and David Lee Propst; daughters, LeaAnn Ramsey, Melissa Jane Dunkin, and Pamela Propst Brooks; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, June 4, from 6-8pm at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor David Robinson. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
