James Richard Mckee, Jr.

January 8, 1943 — June 19, 2021

On Saturday, June 19 th , 2021, James R. McKee Jr. (78) b. 8 January 1943 peacefully went to our Lord.  Jim was born in Rochester, NH, to James R. McKee Sr. and wife Mariette Denise Rainville McKee.  Jim served in the Navy for 5 years, starting out as a Seaman Recruit and became a Seaman Apprentice, then onto Seaman 3 rd Class Shipman Boatswain-Mate.  It was while in the Navy that he met and married the love of his life; Hilda Faye (Davis) McKee.  They were married for 57 years.  Hilda passed away in October of 2018.

His work career included being a rough carpenter for Bob Rainville, a finish carpentry for Rouleau Construction, then onto a cabinet maker for LaFerrier's in Dover, NH.  He went to work at the University of New Hampshire in 1972 as a carpenter and moved over to be a locksmith in 1974.  He became the supervisor of the shop and remained in that position until his retirement in 2005 after spending 35 years working there.

Jim belonged to the Snowmobile Clubs in NH & ME, Car Clubs with Bob Garland.  He and Faye traveled many years to Carlisle, PA for the Ford Car Shows.  He also belonged in The Love Ford Club which later became the Galaxie Club.  Jim was also involved with the International Car Clubs.  He loved working and restoring cars, two of them being a '67 Chevrolet and a '59 Ford Galaxie.  He built Stock Cars with his Father-in-Law, John E. Davis (Slim).

Jim was involved with the Kiwanis Club of Somersworth/Berwick, where he was the President for 1 year.  Jim, Faye and Laura (his daughter) were all involved for many years in the Militia which started in Dover and moved to Newmarket, NH.

He and Faye loved to travel and spent their 25 th Anniversary in Hawaii, 30 th at Niagara Falls and 50 th with family and friends.  They both loved to just drive roads just to find out where they ended up.

He is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Hilda Fay, their daughter, Laura Ann McKee Palmer and dearest and closest friend, Joanne Nutter Eaton.  He is survived by his son in law, Jessie Palmer of Clover, SC.  Grandchildren:  Richard Palmer and his wife Tina, Amanda Faye Williams.  Great Grandchildren:  Daizy, Reagan, Haylin, Richard II, Damion and Rylee.  He is also survived by Tommy and Raymond Davis, Faye's brothers, and close family friends Guy Eaton and Clyde and Twana McCllelan.

Arrangements are under the direction of the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and the convenience of the family.  A service will be announced at a later time.
