Rev. James Thurman Mcadams Sr.

The Rev. James Thurman McAdams Sr., 76, of Gastonia, passed away on December 30, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born May 26, 1938 in Stokes County, NC, son of the late Nick Clemmons and Bertha McAdams. He was a member of the Church of the Living God. Rev. McAdams pastored numerous churches around the area. God called him to preach at the young age of 14 and he continued to preach Gods word on the Cherryville radio station WCSL and other radio stations for over 50 years. He loved his family and his church family dearly . He adored his two cats Blackie and Tom. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by the Reverends Tim Elliott , Bud McDowell, Jack Green. Interment will be at Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory. Rev. McAdams is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Helen L. McAdams; sons, James T. McAdams Jr. and wife Michelle, Stanley W. McAdams; stepson, Scotty Melton and wife Resa; daughters, Anita Elliott and husband Tim, Claudia Freeman Clayton and husband Walter; stepdaughter, Linda Carpenter and husband Steve; sisters, Margaret Jenkins, Pansy Kellam; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; special buddies, Rev. Jack Green and wife Gloria. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
