James Barnes, Jr.

James Logan "Pawpaw" Barnes Jr., 65, of Gastonia, passed away February 5, 2021 at his residence.

A Gaston County native, he was born May 12, 1955, son of the late James Barnes Sr. and Helen Reynolds Barnes.

He was a retired Air Force veteran.

James was a proud pawpaw.

He was an avid sports fan, with the Green Bay Packers being his heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Melinda "Mawmaw" Barnes.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Daniel Barnes and wife Tara; daughters, Amy Bartlett, Jamie King and husband Shane; sisters, Susan Chandler and Becky Goins; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Chris Mintz, will be held 6:00pm Tuesday, February 9, at Venture Church, 800 E. Main St., Dallas.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
