James "Jim" Jones

James "Jim" Jones, 78, of Gastonia passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2014. He was born January 14, 1936 in Gaston County, son of the late Samuel Charles Jones and Callie Grindle Jones. "Jim" was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was hard working as the owner of JMJ Remodeling for over 30 years. He was humorous and very gifted as a "jack of all trades". Jim loved to fish. In his words," until they started biting , then it became work". A celebration of "Jim's" life will be held 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Jason Watkins, Fred Wallace, and Tim Humes. The family will receive friends 5:00- 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Left to cherish "Jim's" memories are, his loving wife, of 59 years, Ann Setzer Jones; daughters, Treva Darlington and husband Peter of Weddington, Pam Goodwin and husband Mark of Clover, Jewel Hedrick and husband Steve of Gastonia, Janet Bradley and husband Nathan of Gastonia; brothers, Dennis Jones and wife Brenda of Kings Mountain, Kenneth Jones and wife Sherry of Gastonia, Johnny Jones and wife Rita of Gastonia; sister, Frances Allman and husband Len of Manning, SC; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: son, James "Jimmy" Jones Jr. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
