James William "Jake" Melton

James William "Jake" Melton, 76, passed away May 28, 2016 in Charlotte North

Carolina following an illness.

He was born May 30, 1939 in Gastonia to the late Charlie and Edith Melton.  In

2004 He retired from the Springs Katherine Plant of Chester, SC as overseer of

carding after 38 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his brothers Robert,

Fred, and Albert; his sister, Isabelle and Twins Charlie Ray and Edith Fay

Melton.

Survivors include his son, Curtis Melton; his daughters, Lancy Melton and Misty

Gochicoa; his brother, Darrell Melton; his sisters, Jeanette Thomas, Nellie

Stacy, Mildred Snyder, Betty Sue Dellinger; his grandchildren, Brian Cox, Julie

Ferguson, and DeWayne Smith; his twin great grandchildren Audrey Elizabeth and

Kelly Ann Scroggs.

Following his wishes, a private memorial service will be held at the Melton

family plot on June 4th at 2:00 pm. Officiating the service is Reverend Don

Burgess.
